Abstract
The nonradiative energy transfer of an organic scintillating solution as a function of the solute concentration has been determined by three independent methods: namely, direct measurements of the fluorescent lifetime, the light output of the solvent, and the light output of the solute. The efficiency of energy transfer ranges from 12% at 0.02 g/l, to 92% at 2 g/l of PPO in xylene. The results from the three methods agree within a few percent. Keywords
