Abstract
Research concening drug- and alcohol-related attitudes was reviewed. Knowledge was not consistently correlated with attitudes. Drug education programs were generally found to be of little effectiveness in inducing attitude changes. Data on the effects of the mass media are largely anecdotal and speculative. The majority of the literature reviewed suffers from some type of serious methodological and/or statistical problems, and suggestions were advanced concerning more appropriate techniques for future research in the area. Keywords
