Abstract
The duration of the mitotic cycle of Helianthus annum root meristem cells has been studied with 3H-thymidine pulse labelling (autoradiographic) method. The total cycle estimate was 9 hours and 45 minutes; that of the component phases was as follows: G1 = 36′, S = 5h 30′, G2 = 2h 20′, Mitosis = 49′. The minimum mitotic cycle estimate obtained by means of colchicine was in agreement with the 3HTdR results: at about 9 hours. 1% of tetraploid dividing cells were scored. Keywords
