Abstract
The production rates of lepton pairs from an oscillating qq¯ plasma are calculated and compared with those expected from a plasma in local thermal equilibrium and from the Drell-Yan mechanism. It is found that for a reasonable choice of the parameters of the model, the pre-equilibrium rate may dominate over the thermal and Drell-Yan rates for the dilepton mass ≥2 GeV.Keywords
