Abstract
This paper presents a metacognition model that has relevance for understanding general problem-solving deficits in LD students. Two components of metacognition are highlighted - executive processes and attributional beliefs. An educational package that combines these components with specific strategy training (such as instruction in summarization) is illustrated as an approach to solving the problem of skill generalization in LD students. Keywords
