Abstract
Comparison of stomachs of bilateral subdiaphragmatic vagec-tomized rats with those of paired fed controls indicate that vagectomy leads to a substantial increase in stomach tissue. Analyses of the tissue reveal that weight gain is not due to edema or fat deposition, but rather to increased protein content. The effect on the intestine is a decrease in weight, but the change is less pronounced.
