Abstract
This article discusses drought and water shortages in the northeastern U.S., including a review of the current water situations in each of four metropolitan centers of the northeast – Boston, New York, Philadelphia, and Baltimore. The article refutes the federal viewpoint that ensuring an adequate water supply for the area has become a problem of such magnitude that it requires the assistance of the federal government. The article stresses that careful planning and qualified management is needed, instead of government intervention, to ensure adequate water supply during drought conditions in this area of the country. Keywords
