Abstract
Summary 1. The technique of autoradiography with tritiated thymidine has been used to measure the proliferative response of mouse mammary epithelium to hormonal treatment. 2. Estradiol-17β administered alone promoted proliferation of the mammary epithelial components but little differentiation was observed. 3. Progesterone administered alone promoted lobule-alveolar differentiation and epithelial proliferation. 4. Combinations of estradiol-17β and progesterone had, in general, an additive effect on cell proliferation, but greatly augmented lobule-alveolar differentiation. Keywords
