Abstract
In this article the author examines the divide between the academic study of human resources and personnel management and the practical application of scholarly discoveries in an actual work environment. He discusses the notion of business “best practice,” and notes that its improper implementation does a disservice to company shareholders, employees and the organization as a whole. The article contains a review of the factors that work against evidence-based human resource management and suggests how they can be counteracted. Keywords
