Abstract
The data for the 1st breeding attempts of 160 pairs of arctic skuas and breeding data for birds of known age were analyzed. Pairs breeding together after the 1st yr have higher success than new pairs. The success of new pairs is raised if either bird has previous breeding experience. Plumage phase influence success in males breeding for the 1st time. Both age and breeding experience of individuals affected breeding date but the relative importance of each could not be estimated. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
