Abstract
Experimental data for the thermal expansion of magnesium oxide extending down to 20°K indicate that the Grüneisen parameter γ is about 1.60 at low temperatures and at room temperature. Near to the Debye temperature θ(800° to 1000°K), γ≃1.5. These values agree well with those calculated from the pressure dependences of the elastic moduli. This publication has 17 references indexed in Scilit:
