Abstract
Rabbits were treated with dicumarol and dicumarol plus ACTH and prothrombin times and bleeding times determined. A slight increase in bleeding time was observed after 3 days on dicumarol, in 50% of the rabbits. Half the rabbits died in the next 24-72 hr from generalized non-specific hemorrhage. This was not related to the previous increase in bleeding time. Bleeding did recur and continue from the cut ear but hemorrhage was much more extensive than this. It is suggested that determination of bleeding time is a marked stress procedure in rabbits. Keywords
