Abstract
In this account, advances in the measurement and understanding of volitional muscular strength of the human organism are presented. Some liberty is exercised in delimiting the report to the following four major aspects of this field: strength measurement, body position and application of strength, certain strength relationships, and strength-decrement fatigue patterns. While brief historical orientation may be made occasionally, the primary emphasis is on recent developments. Keywords
