Abstract
The variational procedure, developed and applied by Luttinger, for the partition function of a particle interacting with a disordered set of scatterers may be applied to treat systems in which the disorder is characterized by general correlations among the positions of the scatterers. Explicit formulas are developed for arbitrary temperature, short-ranged scattering potential, and correlations among the positions of the scatterers. Keywords
