Abstract
Invertase was not found normally in serum. Sucrose did not give rise to serum-invertase when injected intraperitoneally. Intraperitoneal injections of invertase, however, caused invertase to appear in the serum. There was an invertase-accelerator present in the sera of man, sheep, cow, guinea-pig, and rat. The invertase-accelerator was markedly influenced by the concentration of the invertase. The effect of pH was determined for sheep-serum and for guinea-pig serum over the range 3-8. With dilute invertase, there was acceleration at pH 3 while above pH 5 there was invertase-inhibition. In the case of guinea-pig serum, invertase-inhibition occurred at pH 6 and acceleration was obtained on either side. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
