Abstract
More than a score of different protein molecules have been identified as participants in the complement system. For a majority of these molecules, specific genetic defects have been identified, with many expressing themselves in lupus-like disease. In addition, a number of conditions have been identified in which complement-mediated pathology is involved. For some of these conditions, specific therapy is now available. Keywords
