Abstract
A molecular beam of sodium chloride can be partially sorted with respect to the rotational levels of the molecule when it is passed through an inhomogeneous electric field. The possibility of state selection of the beam in one of the lower rotational states of the molecule (J=2; |M| =0, 1, 2) has been investigated by studying the molecular trajectories for the rotational states J=1; |M| =1, 0 and J=2; |M| =2, 1, 0. A typical calculation for a state selector is given. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
