Abstract
A method is described for evaluating histamine release in rats by analysis of urinary histamine. It uses rats in which histamine-metabolizing enzymes have been inhibited and in which bacterial histamine formation has been suppressed. The anti-inflammatory properties of cortisone and Phenergan are not due to prevention of histamine release. The total histamine released from rat tissues by a dose of 2 [mu]g/g 48-80 is about 150-190 ug/100g body weight. Keywords
