Abstract
It is shown that the acceleration of an electron by the electrostatic fields of the ion-wave fluctuations can lead to enhanced electromagnetic waves in a plasma. The maximum emission arises from those electrons whose velocity is close to the phase velocity of the ion-wave oscillations. Application of our investigation to laboratory and astrophysical plasmas is discussed. Keywords
