Abstract
The relation of Waterman's extended boundary condition to the generalized Ewald-Oseen extinction theorem is established. This unifies different formulations of the electromagnetic scattering. Our proof also establishes the validity of Waterman's extended boundary condition for an arbitrary type of material medium. Keywords
