Abstract
The kidney is often a window on systemic disease. In particular, it is a major target organ for the deposition of proteins that are produced in various diseases, and such deposits often increase glomerular permeability. Thus, albuminuria may be the earliest sign of abnormal protein deposits from various systemic diseases, including the B-cell dyscrasias.The deposition of monoclonal immunoglobulins in the kidneys and other organs is one of the serious complications of the B-cell dyscrasias.
