Abstract
Our current understanding of hyperon semileptonic decays, both theoretical and experimental, is critically analyzed. We find that the agreement between theory and experiment is unsatisfactory, although one sector of the experimental data shows very reasonable agreement with the Cabibbo theory. Careful and detailed analysis of current experiments may resolve this situation. Keywords
