Lamb-shift and fine-structure measurements inLi+7

Abstract
We have measured the absolute wave numbers of the 2sS132pPJ3 transitions in Li+7 by laser fluorescence spectroscopy on an ion beam. Using the hyperfine structure (hfs) theory of Jette, Lee, and Das, we have extracted the following hfs-free wave numbers: σ(2sS132pP03)=18 231.3030(12),σ(2sS132pP13)=18 226.1082(12), and σ(2sS132pP23)=18 228.1979(12) cm1. By subtracting the theoretical values of Accad, Pekeris, and Schiff, we obtain the differential Lamb shifts S(2sS132pP03)=1.2539(16),S(2sS132pP13)=1.2543(16), and S(2sS132pP23)=1.2545(16) cm1. These results are in agreement with the calculations of Ermolaev and with earlier measurements by Bacis and Berry.
