Abstract
The chemical constituents of the bark of X. arnottianum Maxim. were examined. Six known alkaloids, chelerythrine chloride, des-N-methylchelerythrine, oxychelerythrine, decarine, arnottianamide, skimmianine, and a new alkaloid, iwamide, mp [melting point] 271-273.degree. C, were isolated. Two lignans, l-asarinin and l-sesamin, 2 coumarins, marmesin and columbianetin, and 8 neutral compounds, arnottin I, arnottin II, .beta.-amyrin, acid X-I, sesquiterpene mixture I and 3 unidentified compounds, were also isolated. Keywords
