LACK OF DIURNAL VARIATION OF CHORIONIC GONADOTROPHIN LEVELS IN PREGNANCY SERUM

Abstract
The diurnal variation of the serum level of human chorionic gonadotropin obtained from 16 women in early pregnancy at 2-4 different times during the day did not exceed the random error of the individual bioassays. It is concluded that with regard to gonadotropin secretion in pregnancy, one blood sample may safely be regarded as representative for the day, and that estimations in serum are just as informative as the assay of 24-hr. urine collections.
