Abstract
The effect of uniaxial stress on the g-factor of Cr3+:MgO is studied using a high-order perturbation approach, where the orbit-lattice coupling is considered within the identical representation and among different ones. The theoretical values are in good accordance with the experimental findings obtained by Hennings and den Boef (1978) and by Walsh (1961). In addition, the uniaxial-stress behaviour of the g-factor of Ni2+:MgO is predicted, and now awaits experimental verification. Keywords
