Immunological characterization of an arylamidase (aminopeptidase) occurring in histiocytoma

Abstract
Histiocytomas display a remarkably strong proteolytic activity. Electrophoretic and immunological studies revealed that this proteolytic activity is due, at least partially, to the presence of an arylamidase, previously described as “aminopeptidase I”. This enzyme has been identified in various tissues of ectodermal, mesodermal and entodermal origin. Histiocytome besitzen eine auffallend starke proteolytische Aktivität. Elektrophoretische und immunologische Untersuchungen haben ergeben, daß die proteolytische Aktivität des Histiocytoms mindestens teilweise durch eine Arylamidase hervorgerufen wird, die früher als “Aminopeptidase I” beschrieben wurde. Dieses Enzym ist ein Glykoprotein, das in bezug auf Antigenstruktur, Kohlehydratbausteine, Molekulargewicht und elektrophoretische Beweglichkeit bereits näher charakterisiert worden ist. Die Aminopeptidase I kommt in verschiedenen Geweben vor, unabhängig davon, ob diese ektodermaler, mesodermaler oder entodermaler Herkunft sind.
