Abstract
Pheromones are powerful specific insect attractants which can be used for the control of certain insect pests. The use of such a specialised technique has generally been considered appropriate in the Developed World. The possibility of using mass trapping for the control of the Egyptian cotton leafworm in Egypt is here examined with particular reference to the socio-economic factors operating in such a developing country. These must be considered if the technique is to have a chance of adoption. Keywords
