Abstract
Poor achievers tend not to demonstrate goal‐driven, planful, self‐assessing, and strategic behaviors unless these behaviors are specifically taught Based on a review of the cognitive science literature, an across‐the‐curriculum program in learning, thinking, and problem solving is being developed for bright underachievers. This paper describes the pilot programs and axioms of program development, as well as guidelines for increasing students’ abilities to be aware of and take control of factors affecting learning, thinking, and problem solving. Keywords
