Abstract
The spectrum of a laser-produced plasma of tantalum in the range 4.4–4.8 Å is interpreted as spin-orbit-split arrays of the 3d-5f transitions for x l v i. The excellent agreement between model and experiment indicates the possibility of use for plasma diagnostics.
