Abstract
A modified reinforced clostridial agar with blood and china blue permitted the recognition of Vibrio(Campylobacter)sputorum, Fusobacterium nucleatum, Bacteroides ochraceus, Selenomonas sputigena and Veillonella species by colony form and colour. Microscopy and biochemical tests confirmed the relation between colonial morphology and species. The medium facilitates identification and permits differential counts of these five gram‐negative anaerobes in the gingival crevice flora. Keywords
