Endourologic Treatment of Ureteral Strictures

Abstract
Thirty patients with ureteric strictures of various etiologies were endourologically treated. Dilatation by a balloon catheter or incision by a ureterotomy knife or a diathermy needle electrode were utilized. The overall success rate was 53%. Failures were correlated to the etiology of the stricture and the technique employed. It is concluded that endoscopic treatment of these lesions is a potentially useful technique in a selected subpopulation of cases. Certain technical aspects still need to be optimized.
