Abstract
Although exact pathogenesis of rheumatic fever remains unknown and the role of bacterial allergy is still hypothetical, a vast number of facts have led to the modern concept of the group A strepto-coccal etiology of the disease and to methods that have opened a new era for the control of rheumatic fever and other streptococcal diseases. Keywords
