Abstract
In this article, we describe a major initiative entitled Mental Health of School-Age Children and Youth implemented in 1995 by the Maternal and Child Health Bureau's Office of Adolescent Health in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Specifically, we outline the nature of the initiative, describe the two national centers and five state projects, briefly explore models developed by the state projects, and highlight some implications of the initiative. Keywords
