Abstract
Protein-bound serum iodine (PBI) was studied and analyzed statistically in 402 healthy euthyroid men 18 to 56 yrs. old. The frequency distribution was shown to be peaked and skewed. The PBI tended to decrease with age and fiducial predictions for 95 and 99% limits are given for normal young (18-25 yrs.) and middle-aged (45-56 yrs.) men. There were significant but very small correlations of the PBI with the basal metabolic rate and with the serum total cholesterol concn. There was no relationship between PBI and relative obesity in these men. Keywords
