Abstract
Dynamic CT [computed tomography] scans of the spleen after bolus administration of iodinated contrast material were obtained in 20 patients without splenic abnormality. The normal spleen enhanced inhomogeneously in half of these patients, probably due to variable rates of blood flow through the splenic red pulp. This inhomogeneous enhancement of the normal spleen may make the detection of small intrasplenic masses in the abnormal spleen difficult using dynamic CT. Dynamic CT is useful in the evaluation of the splenic hilus. This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
