Abstract
A double modulation microwave spectrograph has been used to measure the linewidths of four rotational lines of C2H4O at 300°K broadened by three different polar molecules C2H4O, OCS, and CH3CN having widely different dipole moments. The linewidths have been calculated theoretically on the basis of Anderson's theory as well as Murphy's and Boggs' theory of pressure broadening taking only the dipole‐dipole interaction. The width parameters calculated by Murphy and Boggs theory are smaller than that of Anderson's theory but are larger than the experimental values. Keywords
