Abstract
We report work-function changes caused by Ar, Kr, and Xe adsorbed at various coverages on the simple metals Cs, K, Na, Li, Mg, and Al. These and other data from the literature exhibit considerable scatter, but the trend is generally consistent with the "switching" theory proposed by Flynn and Chen. Keywords
