Abstract
The authors review the experimental evidence for the observation of single photons in hadronic reactions, summarize the phenomenology used in parametrizing the dynamics of the process, provide a survey of the current status of the experimental program, and discuss expectations from future investigations of direct-photon production at large transverse momenta. Keywords
