Abstract
It is shown that the PdM4,5N4,5N4,5 Auger spectra of AgPd alloys do not approach an atomic spectral profile as the Pd concentration is reduced. This is contrary to the behaviour of Pd and Ag Auger spectra observed from alloys of these metals with Al and Mg, and is also contrary to the predictions of a previously successful theoretical model. It is suggested that the difference between the Pd Auger spectra of AgPd alloys and of Pd alloyed with Mg and Al could result from the participation of Ag (4d) states in Auger emission from Pd.Keywords
