Abstract
The transfer rate of the mobile helium film, over Pyrex glass, was measured as a function of temperature in the range from 0.14°K to the lambda point. The bulk of the observations was concerned with film transport due to a thermal gradient but a measurement, using the same apparatus, was made at 1.1°K under a gravitational potential as a comparison. At this temperature it was found that the transport rates, in the two cases, differ by a factor of nearly two, and below 1°K the rate was found to increase with decreasing temperature by about 10%.Keywords
