Abstract
The Compton profile of MoKα x-rays inelastically scattered from poly-crystalline lithium is compared with the theoretical line shape predicted by a recent band structure calculation assuming the Seitz potential. The discrepancy between experiment and theory, though small, throws doubt on the adequacy of the Seitz potential for lithium. Keywords
