Abstract
Comparison of the leukopenia which develops following the administration of endotoxin prepared from Shigella dysenteriae and S. flexneri in normal and decapitated dogs reveals no difference in response. Adrenalectomized dogs also respond to endotoxin with the development of a leukopenia. These results exclude the brain and the adrenal glands as essential sites of action of endotoxin in the leukopenic response. Keywords
