Abstract
Several substituted nitrobenzenes including chloramphenicol (chloromycetin) show inhibitory activity against the viruses of meningopneumonitis, lymphogranuloma venereum, cat pneumonitis, and mouse pneumonitis. Several nitrofurans also inhibited the growth of these viruses. Although chloramphenicol is probably the least toxic of the substances studied, it did not show striking superiority to the others in activity against viruses of the psittacosis-lymphogranuloma group. Keywords
