Search for the Rare Decays BKl+l and BK*l+l

Abstract
We present results from a search for the flavor-changing neutral current decays BK+ and BK*+, where + is either an e+e or μ+μ pair. The data sample comprises 22.7×106ϒ(4S)BB¯ decays collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II B Factory. We obtain the 90% C.L. upper limits B(BK+)<0.51×106 and B(BK*+)<3.1×106, close to standard model predictions for these branching fractions. We have also obtained limits on the lepton-family-violating decays BKe±μ and BK*e±μ.
