Investigations of Spin Assignments inCa41,Cr53, andFe55

Abstract
The angular correlations of γ rays from (d,pγ) reactions with 3-MeV deuterons to states in Ca41, Cr53, and Fe55 have been measured utilizing a collinear geometry and a Ge(Li) γ-ray detector. This study was undertaken in an attempt to resolve conflicts in spin assignments between vector-analyzing-power measurements and other measurements. Results indicate J=12 for the 3618-keV level in Cr53 and the 3788-keV level in Fe55 in agreement with the vector-analyzing-power measurements. The conflict is not resolved in the case of the 3614-keV level in Ca41. There is a strong possibility that there are two unresolved levels in this region, one with J=12 and the other with J=32.
