Abstract
An attempt is made in a single field to determine the oxygen consumption of the skin, and the relation of this process to the metabolism of the entire organism. The pulsation of the tinest cutaneous vessels were registered plethys-mographically and electrophotometrically. An apparatus is described for measuring the desoxidation of the blood in the skin capillaries during the first 3 min. after establishment of arterial stasis. A parallellism seemed to exist between the "skin metabolism and the standard metabolism. This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
