Abstract
We introduce a new formalism for describing the dynamics of polarization lasers, in which a Stokes vector is associated with each pair of polarization modes. A simple model for a pair of interacting modes is worked out in some detail; the approach is shown to be more transparent than the usual methods, and the results readily admit of simple physical interpretation. Keywords
