Abstract
A hemophilia-like abnormality has been observed in one line of inbred Poland China swine. The character first expresses itself at about two months of age, but is variable in this respect. In general the abnormality increases in severity as the animals become older. “Bleeder” animals differ in the severity of the affliction. It seems that the hemophilia-like character in swine is due to a recessive gene and that the variation between individuals in the severity of the abnormality is caused by modifying genes. The character is not sex-linked as is the similar abnormality in man. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
