Abstract
A case of full-term pregnancy complicated by acute fulminating eclampsia and massive intravascular hemolysis is presented. Shock, possibly caused by the hemolytic crisis, occurred and was followed by the typical syndrome of lower nephron nephrosis. The treatment consisted mainly of regulation of water and electrolyte balance. Whole blood, 5% glucose in water, and saline solns. were given as required by the blood chemistry and urinary changes. The patient had an uneventful recovery after a prolonged period of anuria and coma. Keywords
